+phone 2007

+phone was a performance-experiment on the subject of mobile phones, communication and the body at the School for New Dance Development at the Theatreschool in Amsterdam, June 2007. The performance revolves around an animistic relationship of two women with a mobile phone. When the battery of the mobile phone threatens to die they give the phone a necessary bloodtransfusion.

The performance meant to place a critical note on the social side effects of mobile phone usage. +phone shows the undesired side-effects of this development through two young women with a love-hate relationship with a mobile phone. The first woman tries to break free from her mobile phone addiction, while the other one becomes unreachable to the people around her due to her fixation on the phone. The sound in +phone was played live by the performers with the mobile phone.
