Melissa Coleman is an artist working in The Hague, the Netherlands. Melissa’s work focuses on the relationship between the human body and technology. Her key areas of interests are electronic textiles, old media, the performative body and sense augmentation. Melissa teaches DIY Electronics and Electronic Textiles at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and InteractionLab at CrossLab at the Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam. Together with Piem Wirtz from V2_ she founded the E-Textile Workspace. From 2008-2009 she was a software engineer at the AR+RFID Lab where she collaborated on interactive installations for Augmented Reality. In the summer of 2009 Melissa created Media Vintage during an artist in residency at V2_, which was presented at the Test_Lab: Summer Sessions and the Ars Electronica Festival. In 2007, as a guest at the School for New Dance Development at De Theaterschool in Amsterdam, she studied choreography, movement research and improvisation. Melissa Coleman holds an MSc in Computer Science and MediaTechnology from Leiden University.
